Improving Patient Comfort

By News

Quality of life is an important part of patient care. The Hospital Foundation is committed to helping make residents as comfortable as possible. The smallest things can make a difference in patient quality of life like this aquarium at Trillium Lodge in Parksville. The little schools of fish bring a smile to the lodge residents as well as staff and visitors.

Flower Power

By Thank You!

Thank you to the Mid Island Rose Society for their generous gift of $1,000 for our colonoscopy campaign! They raised $3,800 in just four hours at their annual plant sale with proceeds supporting a number of local charities. All the plants sold at the sale are cultivated by their members and are of such good quality that people return year after year to buy them!

Teddy Bears!

Thank you to PetSmart Nanaimo for donating another two huge bags of Teddy Bears! Patient comfort is an integral part of patient care and recovery. The stuffed toys comfort young patients when they are hurting most and provide elderly patients with dementia a welcome distraction.

$3.8 Million for Healthcare

By Thank You!

Due to the generosity of many donors, the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation was able to commit to over $3.8 million in funding to NRGH and the other care facilities it supports in the last fiscal year! The donations help fund medical equipment, patient comfort items, staff education and large projects such as the cardiac expansion at NRGH and Oceanside.

Read about some of the highlights over the past year on our news feed.

Thank you also to Dr. Rudston-Brown who was our guest speaker at our recent donor event where the photo was taken. He spoke about the importance of access to colonoscopies, why they are integral to our long-term health and the impact the new procedural suite in the Endoscopy Department at NRGH will have once it is built. Read about the colonoscopy campaign here.
