When tragedy struck Humboldt, Uplands Park Elementary decided they could not just sit back. This was an opportunity to think “Globally” but act “locally”. The staff and students decided to do a cupcake sale with all proceeds going to the Nanaimo Pediatric Unit in honor of the 16 lives lost, as well as to honor all the support and care the hospital gives to local families. Thank you to the students and all involved who raised $434.
Elliot, 4 years old, raised money at his birthday and his parents, Nolan and Danika, generously topped it up to $275! Elliot and his 6 month old brother Lowen both spent time in the NICU when they were born. Danika shared “We are very proud of our little fighters and of the NICU and its staff. We received such great care so close to home and we are forever grateful for that.”
