Tribute Festival Gives To CT Scanner

The Vancouver Island Tribute Festival presented Foundation CEO Janice Perrino with a cheque for $10,000 raised at the festival in May. Poppy Funds Support NRGH

Last Fall Canadians proudly wore their poppies as a symbol of appreciation for the many men and women who devoted their lives to serve our country. Here in Nanaimo Joann Walton-Hatch of the Royal Canadian Legion Mount Benson Branch #256 recently delivered a portion of the money they raised through poppy sales to Janice Perrino, CEO of the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. The $3,000 will go towards the purchase of medical equipment at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Since 1990 the Branch #256 has delivered almost $115,000 to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation for healthcare equipment and programs that benefit veterans and their families.

Berwick Residents Give to Hospital

Every week the Berwick on the Lake Residents’ Council organizes internal fundraisers in support of local charities that are dear to their hearts.

Recently they presented a cheque for $500 to Brenda Rositano of the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation to help purchase equipment at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Lions Show Support for Heart Health

Throughout the year the Nanaimo Lions’ Club works diligently to help the communities we all live in. Today, Lions Club members, Leslie Smith and Claire Clark, delivered $500 to support the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation’s Healthy Hearts campaign to purchase cardiac equipment for Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Royal Canadian Legion #10 Gives to Foundation

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 focuses their charitable efforts on the needs of veterans in our community and last night, on behalf of the Legion, Roy Robertson presented Janice Perrino with a cheque for $2,000 to be used for the purchase of cardiac equipment at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Since 2001 Branch #10 has contributed nearly $20,000 to help buy medical equipment that helps veterans receive quality healthcare

Parksville Qualicum Beach Elks Give to NRGH and Oceanside Health Centre

The Parksville Qualicum Beach Elks Club #589 fundraises throughout the year to support healthcare initiatives on Central Island. This hard working group focuses their attention on building and strengthening the communities they live in while providing assistance to children and families in need.

The group recently delivered two gifts of $500 each to Janice Perrino, CEO of the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation, for the purchase of of medical equipment at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) and at the Oceanside Health Centre in Parksville.

Since 1912, the Elks of Canada have given countless volunteers hours to promoting and serving community needs across Canada. With over 250 Lodges and 11,000 members the Elks continue growing and helping wherever needed.

The Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation gives over $2.2 Million to healthcare

At a recent donor appreciation evening in Qualicum Beach, the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation’s CEO Janice Perrino and Board Chair Greg Scott presented a cheque for more than $2.2 million dollars to Marci Ekland NRGH Site Director and Island Health’s Board Chair Don Hubbard.

“It is important for our donors to see where their donations are going and for us to present a cheque like this is a true testament to the generosity of our communities when it comes to supporting their Nanaimo Regional General Hospital,” said Janice Perrino.

The multi-million dollar dispersal from the Hospital Foundation was used for the purchase of medical equipment and patient comforts and is over and above the close to $80,000 the Hospital Foundation provided for staff education to health care providers.

The Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation is kicking off their Spring ‘Healthy Hearts’ campaign to raise another $350,000 to purchase items for the Cardiac Department as well as other urgently needed equipment.

Ladysmith Eagles Support Healthcare Close to Home

The Ladysmith Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #2101 recently presented $1,000 to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation’ CEO Janice Perrino for the purchase of vital medical equipment at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). The group gives annual gifts to both Cowichan District Hospital and NRGH as Ladysmith residents utilize both facilities.

Since 1995 the Ladysmith Eagles have contributed $23,000 to healthcare needs at NRGH. Janice Perrino said ‘The Ladysmith Fraternal Order of the Eagles are a dedicated group who care very deeply about the health of our community. This long-term generosity is very much appreciated by our regional hospital.”

Power Pioneers Help Sick Children

The Upper Island BC Hydro Power Pioneers brought their uplifting energy to the Paediatrics Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital this week.

They also delivered a $1,000 donation (split between Paediatrics and Maternity) as well as hand crafted blankets, mittens, hats and slippers for sick children visiting hospital.

The volunteer group of BC Hydro retirees hosts a variety of annual fundraisers and contributes membership dues in order to support our most vulnerable patients.

Quality Foods Supports Local Hospital

Quality foods President Noel Hayward presented Nanaimo & District Foundation CEO Janice Perrino with a cheque for $22,500 to go into the Quality Foods Community Health Endowment Fund to benefit the health of all Central Vancouver Island residents.

Each January and February Quality Foods, in partnership with Becel and Dempster’s, donates 25 cents from each participating product sold. This year they raised $17,500 from that promotion. They also recently held a “Show Your Heart” promotion in partnership with Pepsi and raised an additional $5,000.
“The commitment Quality Foods has to its customers and employees is truly outstanding. Their loyalty to improving healthcare in our communities has made an incredible difference to the Foundation and in what we are able to do. We are very grateful for their support”. Said CEO Janice Perrino.

Quality Foods has been a supporter of the Foundation for over 22 years and have donated almost $300,000 to healthcare in our region.
