Every year, Quality Foods and Dempsters partner up to fundraise for the Quality Foods Community Health Fund which supports educational opportunities for medical staff at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Quality Foods has supported the hospital with over $323,000 over 27 years of giving, including $10,000 that they gave last week! We are deeply grateful to have such wonderful partners who care so much about the health of the communities we serve.
We want to thank the Nanaimo Daybreak Rotary for donating $12,500 to the new Intensive Care Unit at NRGH! The gift is part of a joint commitment to the project made by Daybreak and four other local Rotary clubs. The new ICU is scheduled to open for patients in 2023.
Right now, doctors around the world are dedicating their lives to the health of those around them. They sacrifice their energy, time, and lives to treating the sick, comforting patient families, training their successors, and instrumentally creating a safer and more prosperous world. Our doctors at NRGH provide high quality care for anyone from central and north Vancouver Island who needs them, from mending broken bones to chemotherapy for cancer patients, from life support for premature babies to palliative care for the elderly. For all you do for us, we honour and thank you.
Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation is excited to welcome Chelsea Carne to our team. Chelsea joins us on February 28, 2022 as our new Director of Development. She brings with her years of experience in relationship building, communications and donor relations from Vancouver Island University. Chelsea, we are excited to welcome you and have you join our team.
This holiday season, VICA is rallying support for our front-line healthcare teams in lieu of a Christmas Toy Drive, and shining a light on the Hospital Heroes who have been facing COVID-19 head-on since the start of the pandemic. Who inspires you? This is what we asked the staff at NRGH this past week and were flooded with nominations for their colleagues that inspire them, for a chance to win a Tigh-Na-Mara prize package valued over $2,000! This incredible prize was donated by Sean Martin and Elise Morgan of RBC Dominion Securities. We cannot thank these two community leaders enough for this generous donation that brought out so many beautiful stories and a much appreciated boost in morale. Thank you!
