Every day, I get to work alongside people who care deeply about their patients, about each other, and about this community. There is something special happening here at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

And… we are at a turning point.

Nanaimo is growing. More families are moving here. People are living longer, often with more complex health needs. And our hospital is evolving to become the regional hub for care across Central Vancouver Island.

But to make that future possible, we need more people. More doctors. More nurses. More specialists.

Right now, we don’t have enough.

I see it every day. Patients waiting longer than they should. People coming to the emergency department because they can’t access a family doctor. Teams doing everything they can but stretched thin.

And when care is delayed, conditions worsen. This is happening here in your community.

That’s why I’m asking for your help today.

Your gift today will help bring more doctors to Nanaimo and Oceanside. It helps remove barriers supporting relocation, licensing, and the many small but critical steps that allow a doctor to choose our community.

It’s exciting to know that thanks to donors like you, we are already gaining traction, and we’ve begun attracting new doctors to the region.

We must show healthcare professionals that they are wanted here. That they will be supported. That they can build a life and a career in Nanaimo. Because that human connection matters more than you might think.

We have this dream of what Nanaimo can become… our dream is to grow the programs, expertise, and teams needed so patients can access the specialized care they need. A hospital built not just for today but for the future of our community.

I truly believe we can reach our dream. Because I see the dedication of the people who work here. I see the impact we can have.
