We are thrilled to announce that our hospital has acquired the Stryker Spy-Phi, a state-of-the-art imaging system that enhances surgical precision and patient outcomes. This technology was made possible through the generous support of donors of the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation, whose commitment to advancing patient care continues to make a lasting impact.

The Spy-Phi system provides real-time fluorescence imaging, allowing surgeons to assess tissue perfusion more accurately. This is especially valuable in reconstructive and microvascular procedures, such as breast reconstruction after a mastectomy or bowel reattachment following colon cancer surgery, where visualizing blood flow is critical to success. By integrating this innovative tool into our operating rooms, we are enhancing our ability to deliver our patients the highest standard of care.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation supporters, whose dedication to funding essential medical advancements ensures that our healthcare team has the best tools available. Their ongoing support enables us to push the boundaries of surgical excellence and improve patient outcomes.

Thank you to our Foundation and all its donors for their generosity and commitment to innovation in healthcare. Your contributions make a real difference in the lives of our patients and the future of surgical care.
