In loving memory of their baby boy, the Sundquist family were compelled to make “Benny Boxes”, for others who experience the loss of a baby. These special memory boxes have been donated to the Perinatal/Maternity unit at NRGH in hopes to help guide and comfort grieving families. This beautiful demonstration of compassion has touched the hearts of us all.

Elsie Smith left a special legacy with her dear friend Liz Youssef. Before Elsie’s passing she gave Liz all her remaining yarn in order to continue handcrafting and donating her special baby hats for the maternity ward at NRGH. Thank you for this heartfelt gift.

We can’t thank Dorothy Lupul and her group enough for their continued scrub cap donations. They recently dropped off another 128 scrub caps at NRGH. To date they have donated over 500 scrub caps to health care workers across the island!

Thank you to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 257 for 18 years of giving! Their recent gift of $5,000 was raised through their Poppy Fund and has been donated towards the purchase of the equipment in our new ICU.

Parksville Qualicum Retired Teachers Association donated 100 baby hats to the NICU and Maternity department. All of the hats are in a shade of purple to bring awareness to Shaken Baby Syndrome. Alison Nelner made the presentation on behalf of the group. Thank you so much!
