This year in order to commemorate 106.9 The Wolf’s 20th Anniversary they collaborated with Longwood Brewery to create a special limited addition Platinum Blonde Ale. Together Longwood Brewery and the Longwood Brew Pub donated partial proceeds, totaling an incredible $2,000, of this special ale towards the new ICU at NRGH! Thank you to everyone at Tim Hortons! With the help of our entire community, this years Smile Cookie week was a sweet success. Thanks to our community’s support, Nanaimo’s Tim Hortons restaurants raised a record breaking $27,500.00 for the new ICU at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. The Nanaimo Hospital Auxiliary is a dynamic group of nearly 250 men and women volunteers who have raised millions of dollars for the purchase of equipment and services at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). They raise money through their operation of two retail stores – the Hospital Gift Shop and our Thrift Store at Northridge Plaza – as well as running the Hospital staff 50/50 Lottery draw, and through sales of goods made by their Craft Group. Their prime focus is to be a caring organization which provides services and financial help for patient care and comfort items, for everyone who uses Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and to encourage support for the hospital within the community. They recently presented the Hospital Foundation with a cheque for $100,000 for the critical care medical equipment for the new ICU. We cannot thank this group enough for making such an extraordinary impact on our hospital. The Cottonwood Ladies Golf Club are such a special group that have been supporting healthcare in our community since 2005. On behalf of the group Shari Molchan presented us with a cheque for $1,920 for the new ICU at NRGH! To date they have donated close to $20,000 to our hospital. Every year our local Ardene stores partner with the Starlight Foundation to collect donations at the tills for seriously ill children and their families. This year they donated a new play system for our hospital’s pediatrics department that we know will be enjoyed by our young patience for many years to come. Ardene has donated close to $1.6M to Starlight thanks to the generosity of their teams and customers. These amazing ladies have been quilting together for 30 years and have just donated 30 quilts to our hospital! These beautifully handmade quilts will make a difference for patients and long term care residence alike. This truly is a labour of love for these caring ladies.
